The Specialized Medical Assistance Response Team (SMART) has been operating in Buffalo and Erie County, NY since 1997, providing physician field response for multiple casualty incidents, on scene medical direction, tactical medical support, and physician level assessment during extreme calls. This session describes the history and development of the team and current physician field response system in Erie County, NY.
